Incident at New Alliance Federal Credit Union Lawrenceville Branch

An armed suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash. Employees unharmed.

Pittsburgh, Pa. – November 2, 2023 – Today, at approximately 9:11 a.m., shortly after opening, an armed robbery occurred at the New Alliance Federal Credit Union's Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh location. A suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the branch, details of which will not be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. New Alliance Federal Credit Union employees were understandably shaken but were unharmed. Law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions responded promptly to the scene and have been given full access to the organization’s security footage to aid in their investigation.

New Alliance Federal Credit Union is celebrating the dedication of their outgoing CEO, Florinda Zbrzezny, while looking toward a bold new future. The credit union’s Board of Directors has announced that with the retirement of their longtime CEO this month. Two experienced credit union professionals will be taking the helm and sharing responsibilities of the chief executive function.

Patricia Schimonsky and Kelly Friedl will be working in joint fashion as Co-CEOs for the foreseeable future. These seasoned leaders bring dual skillsets and unique individual strengths to the shared role.

Four Board Members Elected

Four seats on the New Alliance FCU Board of Directors were open for election at the credit union’s annual meeting held on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Congratulations to Jessica Madden-Briggs, Shawn Gradek, Kim Turnley and Mitchell Unis who were elected to fill these seats.


Be Prepared When You Apply for a Mortgage

Applying for a mortgage can be a daunting task that requires lots of paperwork and supporting documentation. Be prepared when you're ready to apply. Whether you're applying online or in our office, here's what you'll need:

  • Full name, birth date, SS#, phone number

  • Marital status, number of children and their ages

  • Residence history for at least 2 years. If you're a renter, your rent payment is needed. If you're an owner, all mortgage, insurance, and tax figures are needed for your primary residence and all other properties owned

  • Employment history for at least 2 years including company name(s), address(es), phone #(s), and our title(s)

  • Income history for at least 2 years. If you receive commissions, bonuses, or are self-employed, you must provide 2 years of bonus, commission or self-employed income received

  • Account balances: Checking, Savings, Investment and Retirement Accounts

  • Debt payments and balances for Credit Cards, Mortgages, Student Loans, Car Loans, Alimony, Child Support or any other fixed debt obligations

  • Confirmation whether you've had bankruptcies or foreclosures within the past 7 years, whether you're a party to any lawsuits, or you co-sign any loans

  • Confirmation if any part of your down payment will be borrowed
